Hello everyone,

I will try to gather here my different tests, both with the Kinect and a six-cameras rig.

Kinect:

Car scene: http://youtu.be/L7cGwPrZjh4?hd=1, a small test, still discovering the constraints and limits of Kinect. But the overall results are really great, for simple moves it certainly is more handier than the full Ps3 Eye rig. This is a screencapture within blender, no modification ot the exported BVH from iPisoft Studio. Default jitter removal.

So I shot this firday (at last!) and I had some time to look at the recorded datas saturday (over 100gb...).
Anyway, here is a quick teaser to give you an idea of the rig and how it performed : http://youtu.be/Bku5mIJEvx4.
The room was'nt as big as we expected but we were able to shoot what we needed to shoot.
In-game footage to come !

That's awesome Jean! The stunts were especially breathtaking. (I've grown too old and 'responsible' to try anything like that anymore.) :)

This is great!

Not only mocap is professionally executed, but also the acting is very good. The actor is surely in a good shape! Do you do your own acting in this video?

I hope you don't mind if we link to your video from our Gallery web page.

On a separate note, your other video is very cool - not actually related to motion capture, just some eye candy with pirate-age cannons in CryEngine:

Thanks! Yes, that's me doing the moves :).

You can indeed put it in your gallery, that would be my pleasure - It means that the capture is good enough to advertise your product!

Oh yes, this was when I played around with CryEngine, really an amazing engine. All the effects and physcis here are scripted only with flowcharts within the sandbox - maybe the most user-friendly yet powerful engine I've seen.

Wow great stuff, what kind of camera are you using for the 6 camera set up? Are they all plugged in via USB? How does that work, I have been playing with the demo and the Kinect which has been great but the results with the 6 camera setup, I may have to go for that. :)

I'm using the hardware recommended by iPisoft, Ps3 Eye cameras. In the setup you see in the video all the six were wired to one PC (i5-760, 4GB of Ram, SSD, HD4870) using active usb extension cables.

Although I captured most of the footage at 50 fps because there was a strange flicker at 60fps (cause by the frequency of the current used by the lights on the set). But it seems that the flicker doesn't affect the tracking in the end, so I can capture at 60fps with this hardware setup.
