I have been waiting for this for years but could not afford the tens of thousands of dollars for this recent technology. Now it is truely affordable. Here is how easy Iam finding this can be ...
1. Buy 1, 2, or 3 webcams (can be inexpensive webcams it seems). You can do it with 1 webcam. 2 or 3 webcams will produce slightly better results but software costs more.
2. Make sure your video card supports shader 4 technology. Most newer cards do or you can buy a new card that supports shader 4 online or ebay pretty cheap. You CAN use windows xp or vista.
3. Make sure that the person you are videoing is wearing fairly dark clothing. Jeans are ok
4. No markers or anything needed. All webcam character movement will be saved as a bvh clip. These clips can be retargeted as bvh for poser, endorphin, half life or regular bvh.
5. 30 day free trial is available. After that software will cost 250.00 for one camera software, 950.00 for 2 camera software and 1450.00 for 3 camera software.
I think the 1 camera software will do what I need. To be able to turn on your webcam and capture motion then drop that on your character is beyond cool
Only minor issue I have found is foot sliding (which is common in almost all bvh motion files. Which I can easily fix in Posers graph editor or even in MotionBulder.
Here the link of my quick test ... I give this software a huge thumbs up for being so innovative and so affordable to poor people like me.
