Hi all. I've written up what I've found out about the iPi software so far and figured it'd be useful to the community, especially if I've got things wrong in it!

It's a 5.5mb word doc downloadable from here:
http://www.ian.chisholm.clara.net/eve/mocap.zip

It's got a fair few pictures in it. It covers a 3*Quickcam setup, and goes through the hardware, software setup, workflow, clothing, and so forth. I'm very new to this so I imagine there are going to be holes in it and things wrong, but it's a start. I've only actually managed one successful test capture but it's quite thrilling (and spooky!) to see the model come to life...

Anyway, I hope this is of use.

-Ian

Thanks! This is very impressive tutorial.

Can you please allow us to link to it from our Support page (http://www.ipisoft.com/support.php)?

Ian,

Thanks for posting this!

I keep a lot of iPi Studio notes in a document too, but your document is much better organized than mine. :)

The new information I found on this is the Left, Front, Right arrangement of the cameras.

Is this necessary to get accurate calibration?

I can't seem to make any of the software work. I would love to use this but its hard to find any clear instructions that don't assume you have some experience with motion capture of previous iterations of your software....,

I think it's a little outdated but there is also documentation you can access from within the iPi DMC program. It's an .html document, so you can also access it from outside the program by making a shortcut and placing that wherever you want.

Also, pay attention to the tooltips that pop up when hovering over a tool or field. There are helpful explanations there too.

Finally, go through these forums...there's a lot of info to be found here, and it tends to cover the most common issues since the info is posted by other users experimenting with the program.
