Hi

Isnt it possible now to use a marker file .mnm for MAXes biped

This will allow to import bvh into Max

Yes, you should be able to use .mnm file to transfer motions exported from our system. Sorry but we don't have an example yet.

UPDATE:
Latest version supports export to COLLADA (.dae) format. This format is supported in 3D MAX. I hope this resolves your problem.

Well, yes and no.

You're correct in that 3DS MAX can import .dae format files (file->Import->dae). But like .fbx format, as far as I can tell, you can't apply those files directly onto a biped.

The only way to apply motion capture to a biped is via the motion capture roll out on the biped toolset. That only supports .bip, .bvh, and .csm

So, unless you're aware of a way to import motion data onto a biped via the file->import route (which so far has never worked for me), I don't think this is quite what is needed. The version of .bvh currently exported doesn't work with bipeds in Max2k9.

thanks
David

See above thread for instructions on using a .mnm marker file to import BVH files into Maxes biped system.

It works just fine and I have many happy customers that can attest to that.

In fact I just walked someone through the process with 0 difficultys.

Please let us know if you are still having problems.

Cheers

OK, I see.

In the upcoming release of iPi Studio we will include an option for exporting BVH in Biped-friendly format. It will result in straightforward import into MAX, you won't even need .mnm file. It is already working in our development builds. We will also post some example BVH files soon.
