i posted this elsewhere and then thought it made more sense here.
i've included example fbx files in the original post

apologies if this is obvious but......

why are the bones named "ipi:*" on bvh export? i load a target fbx in, everything matches up with the standard motionbuilder names. then i export the mocap and i notice that the names have "ipi:*" in front of them now. so my software (lightwave) doesn't merge the data into the character scene. is there an option to have more standard namings somewhere? at the moment i have to rename everything manually in lightwave.
