Post subject:  ipi Recorder doesn't work with two Kinect

Hello,

I recently bought a second Kinect to work on motion capture but ipi recorder doesn't "accept" to work with two cameras.
I've tried to connect each Kinect separately and each camera works but when both are connected, ipi recorder detect and display only one camera.

I've bought an other USB 3.0 controller but I still having the same problem.

I hope someone will be able to help me.

Thanks a lot.

ps: Here is a screenshot of my Device Manager

Hello

What Kinect device do you use - 1 / XBOX 360 or 2 / XBOX One?
If this is Kinect 2 (what I suppose from your Device Manager screenshot) then you can connect only one Kinect to a single PC. This limitation is imposed by Microsoft Kinect SDK. You can record from multiple PCs in that case.

Hello,

I'm using two XBOX ONE sensors.

So have I to change one to an other sensor ?

XBOX One sensors are the same as Kinect 2 for Windows. So you can use only one such sensor per PC.

Please be aware that Kinect v1 has problems with modern Intel USB controllers due to their specific implementation (USB 2.0 inside USB 3.0). Multiple sensors do not work properly when connected to motherboard's USB ports even if they are reported to be on a separate USB 2.0 controllers. See this discussion for details:
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b8ff7e7b-befe-426c-8eae-192a9aa3fa88/multiple-kinects-on-an-intel-usb-30-controller-are-failing?forum=kinectsdk
Some users report that removing Intel USB 3.0 driver resolves this issue. Though I don't know whether this solution voids support of USB 3.0 devices completely.

However, as you already have an additional USB controller, you should be fine with two Kinect v1 devices. As far as I recall Kinect v1 works nicely with NEC USB chips.
