Try running the Kinect Configuration Verifier. This tool may help you track down where the problem is. I think the tool comes with SDK 2.0. If not, I believe you can download it from their website.

BTW, Kinect 2 can be fussy about the system specs, most notably the USB 3 controller in your computer. I think there's more info about this in the Wiki or over at the MS website.

Device Manager shows Kinect installed
Kinect Verifier app says Kinect installed

iPi Recorder says Kinect is not installed

Who do I believe?

I should elaborate on iPi Recorder

Under Camera types it says SDK not installed
Under Devices it says Xbox NUI Sensor ready

Everything else (Windows device manager & Kinect verifier) says its okay?

Under Camera Types, there are different items for Kinect v1 named Microsoft Kinect (SDK) and for Kinect v2 named Microsoft Kinect 2. For Kinect 2, only the latter matters. Is it indicated as installed or not?

Xbob NUI Sensor is the name of Kinect audio input device - does it have a mic icon?

Which download page/link have you used to install MS Kinect SDK? That from the installer of iPi Recorder or obtained by the web search?

Okay ran the verifier a couple of times and it changes results as follows:

Sometimes doesn't seem to like the USB3 ports.
Sometimes it doesn't seem to like the twin Zeons.

My workstation is basically a server in regards to hardware.
I may have to drag out my old i7 (oh joy).
