I'm curious too. I know my gear is not going to be able to handle 8 cameras so I haven't bothered, but I may upgrade my main desktop computer next year if I can afford it. G. |

I did try connecting the internal power connectors on my two usb 3 pci-e controllers and it appeared to make the system unstable. So I disconnected them and all's well. Glad they didn't burn! The controller user guide does not say to connect them, so why are they there? Bizarre. I also upgraded from 850 watt power supply to 1100. Also added stability to system. Also I use an SSD which helps a lot. I didn't know I could create a ram disk on a PC (used to do it on a Mac back in the 90s!). My question: did someone say you can connect more than two eye cameras (at 60 hz) to a usb 3 controller with just two connectors? By using a hub? Would that work? It's just that my motherboard user guide says that using one of the pci-e slots (the only one remaining) would share bandwidth with one of my (2) graphics cards. I would love to go from 6 cameras (with fairly good results) to 8 (with even better results?) but not sure whether to get a 3rd pci-e usb 3 controller or a couple of hubs for the 2 controllers I've already got (also using motherboard's usb 3 controller with, unfortunately, only two connectors). Advice appreciated, thanks! |
