Hey everyone. I currently have a custom gaming PC that I'm looking into using for Ipisoft and Source Filmmaker. I'm reading a bit about the Xbox One Kinect and the Xbox 360 Kinect and the Windows Kinect. I'm a bit confused as to what I'll need to run. I have Windows 7 and want to doubly make sure I purchase the correct components so I'm not scratching my head later. For the xbox 360 Kinect is this the power adapter you need? What else do you need?

Is this the adapter you need? https://www.amazon.com/Power-Supply-Ada ... ct+adapter

to go with this?

Does anyone know if the Kinect for Windows version work with Windows 7?

Thanks in advance.

Hi
Yes, that adapter is needed to connect Kinect for XBOX 360 to a PC.
Kinect for Windows v1

is basically the same hardware bundled in one package (sensor + AC adapter). And it also works on Win7.

If you plan (or are ready) to upgrade to Win8+ then we recommend to consider Kinect for XBOX One (aka Kinect v2) instead. It has a number of advantages that improve motion tracking.

Awesome. Well I went ahead and ordered the Kinect 360 and adapter. Will be arriving tomorrow so I can start to mess with some motion capture! Thanks again. Down the road I may upgrade to Windows 8 and try out the v2 kinects
