Hi, I was wondering if you guys had taken a look at the Intel Realsense ZR300. I know that the previous Realsense cameras (the SR200 for example) were short-range and not capable of full-body capture. This new ZR300 one appears to be designed for very long ranges, including outdoor capture.

I'm curious if this sensor could outperform the Kinect or Asus Xtion sensors, which are both very old (and only the Kinect is reasonably easy to source).

Thanks for referencing a new model. However, according to the data sheet I've found it's range cannot be called "very long" - only 2.8m.

I think they may be referring to the Intel RealSense 400, which hasn't been released yet to the public, but said to have a range of up to 60m, but less accurate depth perception at that range, but scales as the lens is closer to the object.

Here it is described better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvXJSn22ujU

Good find! The 400 model sensor sounds like it has a lot of potential for Mocap Studio.

The little camera device from the developer kit looks neat but at estimated $200 to $300, it might be a bit much for many users. I guess it depends on how much better the results will be. Of course, the sensor might eventually appear in other forms more suitable for mocap.

I'm keeping an eye on this. :)
