I noticed the face in gone in v3. Can this feature be brought back? This was a very important feature to me in v2. Without it, it is more difficult to accurately align the head for head tracking with the Move controller.

Or have I somehow disabled the face feature? I can't seem to find a switch for the textured version of the Actor. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

G.

P.S., Here's the old thread on the subject which led to the feature being added in v2:

Thanks for listening.

Wow, yeah, it's really difficult to use the Head motion controller data without the face reference. With only the featureless head as reference, I'm spending a lot more time tweaking and adjusting the head orientation than I did in v2.

Thanks for any help.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to make sure this topic had been seen. I was wondering if the textured face will return, either as default or an option? Or is it already in there and I'm just not able to find the option to turn it on when using Kinect sensors? I noticed the textured actor in another user's post regarding regarding PS eye tracking.

I need the textures to help me determine if the 'face' is the angle I want before applying the Move data. With the current featureless 'face', it's often impossible to determine if the orientation of the head, especially in 3/4 to front facing views because the basic geometry features are not visible in these angles. The textured face we had in version 2.0 made the head orientation very clear.

I'll be using the triple Kinect system again tonight. Fortunately, this problem isn't too critical for the sequence I need to capture tonight but it would be great to have the face return in the very near future.

Thanks for any info. :)

I'm back to using 3.0 again tonight. I noticed that the textured figure we had in 2.0 actually still exists in 3.0 but he goes away and is unavailable when Kinect mode is activated.

Could we have the option to use this version of the actor for Kinect?

Thanks.

G.

Hello
Sorry for not paying enough attention to this topic once posted.
Actually, nothing has changed here in V3. In depth mode, V2 model also lacks face. We will address this in further updates of Mocap Studio.
In the meanwhile, you can estimate the head rotation with the help of the Rotate tool. Select 'Head' bone and look how tool's handles are oriented.
Also, remember that you can color the source point cloud with View > Color Point Cloud with RGB Data option.

Hi Vmaslov,

Thanks for responding!

Really? I could have sworn I was able to reorient based on face position at one time. For some reason, this seemed easier when I was doing this in 2.0. Then again, it's been a while I guess so maybe I'm imagining this. (Working extra long hours lately makes my memory fuzzy.)

I'll check my 2.0 setups tonight but I am sure you are correct. :)

Anyway, having some kind of facial direction indicator (eyes, nose, mouth) would be helpful. With the semi-transparent featureless head, it really is hard to tell the orientation in certain angles.
