[url]Hi guys, in last iPi Mocap Studio update (ver. 2.1.2.141) has been added support for Valve DMX format export/import for use with Source Film Maker. Has anyone here tried this or better worked it out with importing to Scout model? I successfully captured motion sequence, imported target character of Scout model but I got stuck on importing .dmx animation to Scout in Source Filmmaker. Does anyone have any idea how to figure it out? Any help, thoughts or tutorial appreciated. Thanks

Thanks a lot, this seems to be useful, but there is still problem with final step - importing .dmx animation from iPi Studio to Filmmaker. Maybe I`m doing something wrong, but when I importing the .dmx file nothing happens and character doesn`t moving. Also there are no errors about missing channels and so on. Where could be the problem? Thanks for any help. |

Also, Jimer Lins's tutorial can be useful: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD4409518E1F04270 (although he used a more complex workflow via Maya - that was before we implemented DMX export) |

1: I`m importing DMX exactly the same way like you at your screenshot. It seems like, there is probably some bug in iPi Studio .dmx exporter or i don`t know what. 2: Jimer Lins`s workflow is maybe more complex, but useless assuming that iPiSoft DMX exporter would be working properly. In my opinion. Because you just skip the iPi Studio -> Maya –> MotionBuilder -> SFM steps with only one step of iPiSoft -> Source Filmmaker. |

Can you export from iPi Mocap Studio and upload here to this thread a test animation (in DMX) for Scout character, that has this problem? |

Hello Michael! This is bug in version 2.1.2.142 of iPi Mocap Studio: during saving DMX file current user locale settings are used rather than invariant ones. Workaround: in windows locale setting select dot (.) as a decimal symbol rather than coma (,). ![]() Also we are going to publish update for iPi Mocap Studio in a few hours. |

OK, I see the problem. Floating point numbers in your file have decimal coma (European style) instead of decimal point (English style). Source Filmmaker actually does complain about this - you should be able to see error messages in "Console" tab. A very quick workaround is to switch your Windows system to US/English locale and re-export the animation. Or you can wait for us to release an update to iPi Mocap Studio (we will release it later today). |
