iClone 6 is a huge step up from 5 and yes, its a full real-time render and animation program, story mode, auto blending and much more, I got in on the Pre-Order package, so I couldn't pass it up!
The iPi animations go right in easily through 3DXchange without distorting them at all, minor clean up can be done then and the facial puppet and lip sync works well also.
Perception Neuron just released real-time WiFi to BVH linking to animate characters in real-time and record the actions to files, but it's a bit jerky and unnatural, (common IMU suit issues), better to add your own pre-cleaned files with iPi through 3DX, IMO, but real-time working animations to an actual scene is cool anyway.
As G stated, iClone is a drag and drop VFX engine/editor, once you have a large assets collection in it, it's not a game engine, but the dynamics in the new version are awesome and with optional plug-ins for real-time mesh displacement and rendering and other RL programs work seamlessly with it, like Character Creator and Crazy Talk 8.
You still need a fairly high powered machine to work with it, Nvidia GTX 9x for best results, but mine handles it fine until the scene gets very, very heavy, then it slows a bit.
I know you will really like it G, once you get a chance to get into it, the real-time aspects and parameter adjustments are awesome.
RealLusion also has 2D and 3D toon packages, with 1000's of assets ready to go for purchase, I don't model much anymore, there is just too much already out there at cheap costs, even free, to worry with creating it, unless I need a very specific item.
