Ok, thanks for the info...

I am upgrading my laptop first, has less to worry with and see if the programs on it work ok after, they should hopefully, as there isnt many on it.

So far, it is taking a fair amount of time to do it from the USB download.

I tried to do it from the Boot off the USB, but it wouldn't accept the product key for Windows 7, so I had to skip it and just Boot up normally and run the setup.exe

My main tower is custom built with a bought legit version of Windows 7 Ultimate, so it may be different than an OEM install, but not there yet, may not work with fake versions of Win 7, but I don't have that worry, I have a genuine key.

As you say, some programs may fail on start-up that cant be deactivated, will have to handle that when the issues arise later, but will deactivate iPi, since it is easy.

The upgrade didn't work off the USB on my HP mini-laptop with a 21G hard drive, I only had 5.7G free after all the updates MS wants to load for Win 10 and you need a minimum of 9G to complete the upgrade, so would have left me with very little G's anyway if I managed to get 10 or so, so not worth it.

That laptop is basically an expandable drive machine, kind of like the MS Surface, with either flash drives or SD cards for storage, I would have to do fresh install and loose anything on the drive now, which isn't alot, most is crap HP installs at the factory that is worthless to me anyway usually, will look into doing it later, or maybe just get it through the reserved download from the taskbar icon, that may format the drive first before install, I don't know.

I wound up upgrading from Windows Update rather than using the USB method too.

The Wacom Cintiq Companion took well under an hour--not exactly sure how long it took because I came back an hour later and it was done. The desktop took quite a bit longer than an hour--in fact, at one point a screen popped up saying something like "Hmm...this is taking longer than we expected. Still working on it." Cheeky.

I think the Companion went faster because of its SSD, more ram and faster processor. (Can't believe a tablet computer is technically more powerful now than my workstation.) :p

I was reading on low storage machines, you have to insert a FlashDrive or SD Card to complete the download, so I will try that maybe, I am on the reserved list and waiting, so if it doesn't work right, I will just wait for confirmation.

Upgrade went ok on the Laptop, took over an hour though with the USB, but finally completed and yes, I got the message taking longer then expected, kind of plain warning, in fact most of the windows are kinda plain, like Win 8 are, after using Win 7 as my main machine for so long.

It kinda has the start menu in a crazy array, but is what it is, right clicking the Start button gives access to common paths easier like Win 8 though.

Just have to get used to navigating it.

All the programs are working fine, thank goodness, they do have a compatability checker for older programs, you can type in the program and it will return whether its auto-compatable with Win 10, I don't know whether all are searchable though, I think it just lists major developers, but don't hurt to search any to see if listed.

So far, so good though also.
