I tested the remote control from Team Viewer this morning running from my tablet using the free for non-commercial version Remote edition only App.
It seemed to work fine with the PS Eyes set I used before (5+1) I just set up the slave on the that machine and entered slave manually on it (done).
(I tried to run T-V on the Master its self and remote the slave for all setup, but I had to minimize the slave machines window first (slower machine) for its cam to run at right near 59.5+/-, with its window open it wouldn't get above 20 fps for just the one cam and couldn't start record. (probably due to poor video card right now).
Several attempts to try with it open, just wouldn't run right on that slow machine, until I minimized the window on the manual setup.
I controlled all connections to slave through Team Viewer on the tablet, although was a bit small 10" screen and harder to hit individual buttons, it did work.
All cams ran at least 59.5+/- fps to maintain the recording, if one cam fails it will ruin the recording, so good it didn't do that in this test, but it can drop out at anytime without warning.
I just wanted to try it through the unattended connection through a tablet, would probably work better through the Companion mini computer or regular laptop I am sure.
I guess if your running multiple machines as slaves, they would have to be setup manually and entered to slave mode on each first, then all can be selected on connect to slaves through the tablet remote, or right on Master before you left the room.
It will probably work as good with the Kinects, I can't see why it wouldn't, especially if you can set the slave up on its own machine and enter slave mode on it, then your done with that machine for the whole session. (unless of course cams drop out, then would need to go rest them).
Only one instance of the program can be run from a tablet, maybe on a stronger laptop several instances can be run to remote several machines, or maybe RDC also running on the Master to remote to each slaves network connection and those windows alone could be selected and minimized during use, (say, to reset a dropped cam), I ran another instance from the Master, by selecting it on the tablet and connected that to the slave machine and could control it also :) Still had to minimize the recorder window for it to work right though, but worked fine. (even with that monitor disconnected from the machine).
You pick the folder for the slave and Master to download into and merge to one (.iPiVideo only on the Master)(saves slave video to its own location on slave machine, saves all files on the Master), but it doesn't allow naming until after that, so that may be a bit hectic for many back-to-back recordings, going to the folder each time to name the merged files, especially if using a small tablet, laptop would probably be much easier. I guess if I had my BT keyboard on the tablet, it wouldn't be too bad for naming, but didn't for these few tests. (may interfere with Moves though, I didn't test that, but being explicitly paired to its ownt dongle, maybe not). I will have to test that, using the BT keyboard.
It's good anyway to know it works, I may need that at some point in the future, thanks for bringing it to my attention again, the last time I used Team Viewer was years ago, but it's easy to setup, configure and connect.
If anyone else is interested in controlling their Master with a Wi-Fi device or laptop from a remote location or even just to watch what someone is doing on the Master, (selecting show remote cursor in settings), because you can still control the Master from the machine while it's connected, you just can't touch the remote devices mouse/cursor at the same time, or you will interfere with the Master machines control.
You can also instant chat between the remote device and the Master within the program itself, that's a pretty neat option for someone watching, but not controlling the Master, (like a director), and it also has a whiteboard if needed for drawing on-screen.
Could be a pretty handy program for many reasons.
