Hello all developers of ipisoft, Since the latest ipiRecorder release. But when will the official comparison list contains the Azure Kinect release ? I wasn’t able to find anything about the Azure Kinect here http://docs.ipisoft.com/Depth_Sensors_Comparison. I’m so interested in this thing but I don’t dare to buy it recklessly. Thank you very much. |

We're going to update docs with info about Azure Kinect in the near time. What I can tell right away is that we do recommend Azure Kinect for usage with iPi software. |

Will the Ipirecorder support capture with up to 4 Azure Kinects with one Pro License ? Is it possible to connect 4 Azure Kinects to one single PC ? How big is the minimum mocap area of 4 Azure Kinects ? How much is the MAX FOV degree of the Azure Kinect ? |

Yes, 4 Azure Kinects will be supported with Pro edition, same as other depth sensors. We've successfully tested 3x Azure Kinects with a single gaming laptop. There still may be issues with USB extension cables or USB controllers. In Wide FOV mode, a person can stand at 1-3m distance from Azure Kinect. That means a room of 3x3m is suitable to capture with 4x Azure Kinects if you place them in corners. Capture area will be about 2x2m. Wow, that sounds fantastic! I'm not planning to retire my multi-Kinect 2 setup yet but what you describe makes it tempting. Can't wait to see the examples and comparisons. Keep up the great work guys! |

It sounds great. The one important question is this. Is it possible to capture the movement of hands and heads accurately without any motion controller such as PS3move ? |

I'm going to guess no because hands can change their shape too much to track accurately, at least when recording full body motion with the sensors. For accurate wrist tracking, it's easier/better to use an attached device that can record rotation (like the PS Move or Switch Joy Con controllers.) That reminds me, I want to try the Switch Joy Cons with iPi Mocap Studio. The smaller size of these devices should make it easier to attach to a glove than PS Move. My daughter has four Joy Con devices and says I can try them out. I run a test later and report on it later this weekend. |
