Post subject:  Questions about Dual Auzre Kinects ?

Hello everybody in ipisoft,
May I ask some questions about the USB extension cables of the dual Azure Kinects ?
What kind of USB extension cable is suitable for dual Azure Kinects ? The traditional USB cable made from copper wire or the USB Optical Fiber Extender ?

Because the 10 meters USB Optical Fiber Extender is much more expensive than the traditional USB copper cable.(almost at half price of one Azure Kinect, three or four times more expensive than traditional USB cable)

But the seller of the USB extension cable told me that the data will be lost if I use the 10 meters long traditional USB copper cable definitely.

Is it necessary to buy this kind of expensive 10 meters long USB Optical Fiber Extender for the Azure Kinect ?

Does each Azure Kinect need ONE USB 3.0 cable to connect to the same computer if I use more than one Kinect ? But connecting these Azure Kinect between each other is not required, is it right ?

How big is one minute long video file recorded by the dual Azure Kinects ? How much data in megabytes will be written to the hard disk per second ?

Hello,

We're using inexpensive active USB 3.0 repeaters (extensions cables): 3 meters, 5 meters and 10 meters long. And Azure Kinects work well with all of them. Here is an example of such extension cable:
https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Super ... OPDOU?th=1
(There is no need to buy exactly this model. Treat this as a reference for choosing.)

Note: As a rule, such active USB 3.0 repeaters have special additional round jack on female-end of cable. This jack can be used for additional power supply. But there is no need in it, while you're using additional power supply for Azure Kinects themselves.

Yes, one USB 3.0 connection is required per Azure Kinect - it can be direct connection or using an extension cable. You also need to connect power USB cable of each Azure Kinect to some power source - usually an USB charger, which can be placed near the camera with the help of extension power cord.

Something about 20-30 MB/s. It depends on selected video mode - NFOV or WFOV.

So is Azure Kinect officially supported in ipisoft now? But I don’t see it mentioned in the stores subscription packages under suported depth cameras.

According to your answer, I will be able to use a regular high-capacity mechanical hard disk instead of such expensive SSD. Thank you very much.
