Hello I need 10m extension cables for the 8 ps eyes. (Maybe a 5m hub and 8 5m cables? is this something ipi users do?) The guy on the store told me there are with and without "amplifier chip". Since Amazon is not sending stuff to my country in these corona days I need to buy something here locally. Need to know all the types and the one that works best with ps eye Thank you : ) |

You need cables with "amplifier chip" aka "active" cables or "USB repeaters". Otherwise the signal becomes too weak for reliable transmission of video data on such a long distance, and you'll experience frame rate and frame drops issues. You can find recommendation on our web site http://ipisoft.com/store/hardware, search for "Active USB 2.0 cable". It's an Amazon link, but it gives you an example of what to find in you local stores. As for USB hub, we generally do not recommend this. Because a hub is connected to a single USB port on PC and thus all connected devices are limited by the bandwidth of this port. Most likely you will only get 2 PS Eye cameras working at 60 fps through the hub. |

You can tell it yourself once you connect a camera via the cable. Enter Setup screen in iPi Recorder, select 640x480@60fps mode and look into camera statistics at the bottom of a camera view. If you that frame rate is stable at 60fps and frame drops are around zero then the cable does a good job. And check different USB ports of your PC before making a final judgement. |

I used to connect 12 ps eyes with twelve 10~15-meter-long USB 2.0 extension cables. All my cables contained “USB repeaters”. I have two computers in the same LAN. Each of them has three PCIE USB card. Every 2 ps eyes connect to one PCIE USB card. But the ipiRecorder often didn’t recognize one to three ps eyes in each computer. I can't find the solution yet. They were all fine if I connect these ps eyes one by one even three by three. |
