Cpu Gpu?

The computer I'm using for the Studio part of the process is a dual core athlon 64 x2 6400 4gb ram with ati 4850hd video. My motherboard allows for a phenom ll x4 processor. It also allows for up to 4 ati 4890hd video cards. Would it be better to up the processor or the video card first. The processor and 1 video card are about the same price.

In general, video card upgrade should be preferable as it should boost speed much more seriously.

Your existing card (4850) is not that bad as compared to 4890. The difference between single 4890 and single 4850 should be roughly the same as in games (that is, around 30-40%). Here are some useful Left4Dead benchmarks:

For single-GPU video cards, performance difference in iPi Studio should be roughly the same as performance difference in Left4Dead. You can use this fact when choosing video card.

By upgrading CPU from Athlon 64 x2 6400 to Phenome II in Ipi Studio you can only squeeze some 10% improvement at best.

We plan multi-GPU support but it is not ready yet. It may take a month or two before we come up with multi-GPU support. We expect iPi Studio performance to scale almost linearly with multiple GPUs.

howdy, your program looks interesting...curious about specs, tho (perhaps a sticky
would be good for others like me concerned with their hardware being below that
which is suggested).

Specifically, I've got an Intel quad 2.4 and an 8800GTS...does that take me out of the
game until I upgrade, or can I just 'suffer' a bit more performance-wise?

8800 GTS is good fast card, and should be completely OK for running our software.

Hi, First post here.
Will something like a GTX 295 work where it is two gpu's on one card??
I'm scaling up my business right now and I'm very interested in this program.
I just got my i7 920 computer with 6 gigs of ddr3 ram but have yet to pick a video card.

Currently, we do not support multi-GPU cards. This means our software will work on 295 but will only use 50% of its power.

Please make sure SLI is disabled (via NVIDIA Control Panel) before running our software on GTX 295.

We do plan support for multi-GPU cards in future versions.
