Post subject:  New computer

I broke down and bought a new computer, HP Pavilion Elite HPE-410f with 6cores, 8gigs, and one terabyte drive. With 4 ps3 cameras I can record 4 cameras at 640x480 at 60fps. The results are just OK. I'm going to upgrade the computer with three usb 3 cards soon, so I will be using 6 cameras.

I have bought the other two cameras and hook up one extra. Now the best is only 40 fps but the capture seems to be more accurate.

The other issue is capture frame rate. The new computer graphics card take about 8 seconds per frame weather it is 4 or 5 cameras. I figure I will need about 25 seconds of motion capture per shot. Coming off the T position, make that 30. And with 4 cameras at 60fps it will take 4 hours to render out, but going to 40fps is 2hr 40min.

The ATI Radeon HD 5570 will be updated to a Gforce 480 or better.

I got my quad core HP Pavilion Elite with a Geforce GTX 260 and the tracking speed is about 2 to 3 seconds per frame for four cameras with all features enabled (feet and shoulder tracking,) so if you upgrade to a GTX 480 or better, you should see significant improvement in tracking speed.

I considered getting a GTX 480 myself but I think I'll wait until I can afford a six core computer. (It will be a while since we got this computer just last summer.) In the meantime, I've been pretty satisfied with my current system. (I never anticipated that iPi would be supporting six cameras when I bought it.)
