Recently I purchased a Playstation eye camera from a Thirdparty seller on Amazon. It came in a plastic bag, with a twist-tie holding the cord, and was missing the "Playstation-eye" decal on the back of the cameras microphone. It worked with the same drivers and was able to display frames but the performance was sub par. Where my other 4 cameras came in a retail box directly from the store this one, that came in a plastic bag, could never get 640x480 at 60fps without dropping at least 4% of its frames. The only way I could get it not drop frames is to lower the settings to 320x240... It looks exactly like a retail boxed camera and I have no way to verify if it is real or a knock-off, but another distinction is that it is missing the Playstation logo on the bottom of the cameras little stand. The cord is different too, it is thicker and has large print... If it is a knock-off it is very good... I sent the reseller a detailed email and if they don't let me return it... I might post their seller name.
But does anyone know how to verify the legitimacy of Sony products?
