Hi gang. I'm sure some of you already know about this, but for those who don't there is a facial mocap software called Moviemation. There are two versions. The basic version is a free download and allows for 15 marker placements. The 2nd version allows for 32 marker placements and costs roughly $48 (34.95 Euro). It's not as automated as Zign-Track, but it has an easy user interface and can produce great results. Here's the link.

He also has a great tutorial for constructing simple head gear to support a facial cam.

Pat :)

What version of Poser are you using? I'm using Poser Pro and I believe the facial software exports to standard BVH motion. As soon as I can glue balls to my face I'll test it out :)

I use Poser Pro 2010. As soon as YOU receive results of export in Poser, inform please.

Ha Ha Ha!!! Sure thing. I may give it a go today actually. If I can get positive results I'll post them.

Wow, that's very interesting! Thanks for posting the link and please let us know how your testing goes.

I wish I had time to test this myself. It looks like a lot of fun but I'm too involved up with finishing a short film using iPi DMC right now. Oh, well...maybe I can try it on my next mocap project. :p

I'm having a bit of an issue with it. The software requires you to save your video footage as an image sequence, which is done easily in Aftereffects. However, the software doesn't recognize the jpeg sequence that I created. I'll keep you updated.

I never heard from the guy. I don't know what else to do. The software imports video that's been converted to JPEG files. I've done that in Aftereffects and Photoshop and neither could be found by the program. It's a great little program and the price is dirt cheap. That being said, I'll probably just go with Zign Track. Sure it's more money, but from what I can tell, less hassle.

Sorry for the negative results.

Pat
