Wow! Sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time with this. I've not heard of anyone else having these issues, but before you give up on the software, let's see if we can figure out your issues. Are you using a desktop or a pc? What size of HDD are you running? Is you HDD 5200 rpm or 7200 rpm? Have you tried recording to an external HDD? I see that your video card is running 512, it may be running a bit too slow for Kinect. Perhaps updating to 6 gigs of ram from 4 would help too. Ipisoft uses up a decent amount of resources to capture and process the video. So in a way - yea - if you have a top running computer it helps. My main system is a quad core I-5 with 1 TB HDD, 500 mb external hdd, 6 gigs of DDR3, and an Nvidia 2 tb video card. However I'm running 6 cameras. I have run 4 cameras on my Dell laptop which is a dual core, but had to capture at lower resolution to get decent fps. I wouldn't think that you should be having too many issues with the kinect, though. I would contact Greenlaw on this forum. He uses both Kinect and Camera setups and have been at it for a while. He may be able to help you out on this. I would also contact Truebones who is also on this forum. Both guys have helped me out a lot, and they know what they are doing. It's frustrating - I know. I don't have it down 100% either, but the end result is worth it. Don't give up on it yet. |

Hi, Sorry to hear you're having problems with the software. The trial version removed its five second limit a while back and the full version of course never had this limit, so you shouldn't be seeing this problem. If you're running into a five second limit you might want to be sure your license is installed correctly and that you are running the latest version of the software. It sounds like you're computer should be fast enough to capture Kinect data. Your 8600m graphics card would be on the slow end for tracking motion capture data but it should be capable. When I capture using the Kinect and my five year old duo core laptop, I have to use a USB 3.0 expresscard and a USB 3.0 drive, but this shouldn't be necessary with a newer laptop. Tip: I've made it a habit have to disable internet connection when capturing because I've had certain programs, like Adobe Acrobat or Avast for example, try to update while I'm recording, which can cause dropped frames or suspend recording entirely. It's probably a good idea to suspend any background processes that might interfere with recording. Apart from that, the Kinect system has performed very well during production of my current short film. As for a refund, that would be up to iPi Soft. I would write to their CS department; it's not likely that they will resolve something like this in a public forum. Good luck! G. |

I optimize all on my laptop, shutdown internet connection, shutdown antivirus,... it is just the 4gig of ram, & my videocard that give me the problems after usage of 5sec. i tested the application a time ago with the 5sec. limit & then it all seems to work for me. but now, with the full version all go wrong. it totally crash my system. to bad, i really hoped finally do my own mocaps. to bad i can't. 've seen alot of videos from truebones & if you see his vids, all looks so simple to do. but it isn't. many times i've seen the models lost bone information from the actor. arms & legs, that move different or just stop to move. |

Looks like your video card driver is about a year and half old. The newest version is here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-w ... river.html If you have a Dell notebook, be sure to read that part of the page. |

Whoa, whoa, we're all friends here. No reason to name call. Durf, there is obviously something that we are all missing that may be a simple fix to your issue. Have you tried updating the drivers to your video card? I'm thinking that it may be a speed issue. Also try recording to a separate disk. See if you can add more ram, update your video driver, and try to record to an external device. It really is a good program, don't give up on it yet. We can find a fix to this. :) Pat |
