Hello all, I recently created a post about stressing the mrs out.

I have now got a brilliant calibration with not a single red dot and a great viewable shape (Simular to the Calibration guides)

I am working with 14ft x 20ft and the camera's have been setup to the exact same view or setup as the ipisoft wiki guide shows.

The main camera is atleast 8ft high if not more and the two sides are perfectly positioned to the masking tape lines same as the giudes.

So all the cameras are placed at a good distance and the setup literally looks spot on to the giude pictures on wiki. I even lined up the side cameras to the white lines same as the wiki has and also the front on camera is at the same distance and looks spot on.

Despite a really good calibration video thier are two issues i am facing at the moment.

Issue 1: one of the three usb ports on my Alienware M11X displays dark clothing as light coloured? The recording colours are perfect except for the actor clothing. for example the left and right cameras will display dark blue trousers but the centre displays a very convincing light blue.

I am sure i read somewhere that this destroys the motion capture process.

Issue 2: no matter how many times i fit the model pose to the actor pose the second i change camera the other cameras model has moved.

So frustrating especially after following the guide to the letter and mimmicking the entire picture and video tutorials.

To all those that say this is all easy your obviously rocket scientist with Alien technology for use with the program.

This is now the third pc i have attempted this on and i am very close to giving up.

The only things i can think of that may be causing further issues are that the virtual cameras do not look like they are in the correct positions (no idea how to change that)

Also the height of the cameras have not been tampered with or set and i am not sure how or what to do with this.

Out of all the guides i have found online this is still a complicated task especially as everyone elses guide copies the others with the same information with gaps :*(

I will eventually upload a video of the setup but do not usually have anything to do with youtube other than viewing the occasional video. I couldn't even host a image on image shack lol

Thanks for reading

Chaos

Sorry to hear that you are still having some issues. On a high note though, YAY for getting a good calibration! First off, an Alienware system should have NO problem in the known universe in capturing data. Your system is fine. Alienware systems are Dell computers and my LAPTOP is a DELL and I can cap with for cams just fine.

I'm wondering if it's a problem with either the USB port or the camera itself. I would think that as long as it's your colors are in the correct spectrum (blue = blue, red = red) you SHOULD be fine, but I would let others clarify that.

How's your lighting in the room? If the lighting is low or uneven it might give some of your cams a misread.

When you import the calibration video, are you clicking for the software to automatically figure out your camera height, or are you taking measurements and inputting them into the software?

You may need to re-arrange your camera screens before you capture. The software may me thinking that cam #6 is cam #1. Although this still shouldn't cause huge issues, it's worth looking at.

Let us know, and if you can post that video that would be great!

Thanks :)

Pat
