I have a lap top with a usb 3.0 side and a USB 2.0 side.. So I assume they are not all sharing the same path... So I goto device manager and plug both in and half the time one of the camera is not installed successfully (yellow icon).... But sometimes they both work..

So then I load u ipirecord and everything is working and then I record and normally within a couple seconds one of the camera freezes up...

Has anyone else had this happen ? ? Is there some workaround ?

I have 2 laptops so I could have a camera on each.. but there is no way to sync them up.

What's the specs of the laptops? Dual core or quad? How fast are the drives? Because you can capture from a single Kinect on either laptop, I'm guessing it's a processor or bandwidth issue. I know that's vague but what I meant is that it's probably not a software or driver issue.

Nobody knows what the final requirements for dual Kinect will eventually be since dual Kinect support is still in beta testing but my guess is that it could be higher than what most laptops are physically capable of, especially if you're capturing depth data and color video from two sources.

Have you tried disabling the color data? This stream is not needed for calibration and tracking and should reduce the amount of data significantly.

FYI, I did not capture color for short film project recently, just depth, and everything worked out great. For my next film however, I will be capturing the color streams because I will need the visual reference...but then I will be using a desktop for this, not a laptop.

Its a i7... very new..

I will try doing it without color..

The problem though just getting the lap top to recognize both cameras in the device manager seems to work very randomly..

Ill try my wife i3 laptop and see how that goes.

Oh, yeah, I would think that would be fine. Are you recording to the system drive or a secondary drive? Unless you're system is on an SSD, it's better to record to a secondary drive if available. Otherwise, I'm stumped.

You probably did the following already but try removing all Kinect related drivers and start over. If you had older drivers installed at some point, see the wiki about this because removal of some items may not be completely obvious.

Hope you get this figured out soon.
