So after work heard/seen my setup I have at home they want to set up a similar on at work but want to go with the dual kinects due to the simplicity of the calibrations. What is the absolute smallest space we can squeeze this into without loosing the 7x7 recording area. I'm see on the main page of the website that the miminum required space is 9x5 but what recording space would this give you? a 1'x1'? And them on the quick guide with the second configuration, with the kinects 180 from each other, they state that they have to be between 5-6m(16.5-20') to work. If anyone can let me know that would be awesome going to go measure the lower office now.

I'll get measurements of my area at home for you tonight but basically I'm shooting in my living room, which is certainly not large space. I think this gives me a capture space that's about 6 x 6 sq ft, and it could be bigger if I removed some our furniture. (Which I'm not going to do.)

The brilliant thing about the Kinect setup is that you can set it up and take it down quickly and easily, contrary to the PS3 setup which, depending on your space, may also require setting up lights.

Each time you set up your Kinect sensors you will need to recalibrate for the new session of course but that only takes a few minutes. (My wife especially likes the fact that I took over our living room for only a couple of hours to shoot an entire short film.)

However small your space is, it's important that the capture area is away from the walls and clear of furniture or other obstacles. Any item that is close to the performer may 'blob' into the performer's volume space, making it difficult for iPi Studio to track accurately.
