Post subject:  Anyway to optimise USB ports?

Im going to use IPI recorder on my laptop for outdoor instead of my computer.

I can use four USB ports and it can do 50fps on 640x480. I had it once record 60fps!!

And yes it needs to be 60fps because all my animations are on 60fps. They all have to be consistent.

Is there a way to increase bandwidth for USB ports? I know immediately disabling Wifi and bluetooth gives it more.

Subtracting background is already enabled for compression.

Any tips?

Are you using 1.0 or 2.0? The new 2.0 file format is much slimmer and improves USB throughput.

Are you using PS3 Eye or Asus? If it's Asus, you can try dropping the RGB data. If you're using PS3, try lowering your resolution and increasing compression. Resolution and compression is less important than high framerate, so you should still be able to get good results this way provided you're not too far away from the cameras (i.e., too small on screen.)

Hope this helps.
