We are looking at setting up a Ipi capture setup and besides the body capture aspect I'd like to be able to do some processing to get facial. For this I need to be able to convert the ipivideo format captured by the recorder into a standard video format such as an avi is this possible? |

No at the current moment. Though we have this feature in our plans. |

I agree. I'm sticking with version 1 for now. Recording facial reference as an avi for use in another application is very important for my workflow. I really don't know why they'd create a format that has no way of importing/fitting into an existing pipeline. Recorder 2 has a nice UI though. |

In short, AVI format limited our ability to store all needed information in convenient way. That is the reason for introducing our own iPiVideo format. However, we were underestimating the need for users to employ video from our recordings in other software. We'll raise the priority for a task of implementing video export in AVI format. In the meanwhile you can continue recording with Recorder 1.x and convert them with Recorder 2 to process in Studio 2. pollywoggles wrote: Recorder 2 has a nice UI though. Good to know another user who likes it :) |

Maybe you can try one third-party video tool for converting IPI recorder V2 video to AVI. |

Has there been any progress on the topic? Is there a way to extract the video in a standard format? Even a hacky one would do:) |

I just tried something here and it works, at Ipi Studio, hide the "skin", "depth", "bones", "ground plane" and "align color video to depth", click on "camera 1"(if needed), go to "file>>export video", it will render a clean avi video of your scene, you can also render only the region of interest. I think the great advantage of doing this instead of old format is the size of the file, once you can limit the area of render and select a codec for compression. Hope it helps! |
