| Post subject: | multiple Kinects |
I was reading some previous posts on the forum and a couple people talked about the problems that arise from multiple Kinects due to the IR interfering. I recently did an experiment with 3 Kinects with one Kinect at the 12 o'clock, one Kinect at the 3 o'clock, and one Kinect at the 6 o'clock position. I did notice that with the cameras facing 180 degrees that there was visually significantly more unobtainable information (yellow colored in iPi Recorder 1.3) than compared to the Kinect in the 3 o'cock position. With that said, is it possible to carry out an experiment with five Kinect cameras equally spaced around a circle? There will be two Kinect systems and 1 single Kinect system. |

As I've already noted, there is no much sense in placing more Kinects in a circle: http://forum.ipisoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=11940#p11940 What is your intention to use more Kinects? What do you want to improve with this config? |

The research I am currently apart wants to test how the angular configuration of the Kinects affects the accuracy of certain motions. So with the Kinects set up in a circle I could test 72 degree dual Kinect set up and compare it against 144 degree setup and compare it against 216 degree setup etc.. So basically we are investigating how the positioning affects the accuracy. |

Ah, you are trying to save your time and record single action video for all tests? :) You can try to use several instances of iPi Recorder with different pairs configured. Possibly on different computers, because it's hard to connect all 5 Kinects to a single one. However, if you know exactly what specific motions you have to test, it should not be hard to record several action videos with similar motions, one for each angle. |

Yes. I was planning on using 3 computer and 3 different instances of iPi Recorder and I want to film them all at once so when we compare the data the from the different angular configurations there are less variables. Since I haven't bought the Kinects yet I just want to make sure that when I set up all the Kinects I won't have too much interference coming from the other Kinects. Thanks for all your help. |
