Have you heard about nuiCapture? I Love ipi product, and I and many others have paid for the upgrade because the new features that until now it didn't show up. Like head, hand and two figures etc... For the same price the nuicapture is giving face recognition as well two figures for the mocap. So...People from IPI it's time to come with something.

Thanks

Well, NUI Capture uses Microsoft SDK tracking algorithms, that were designed for motion gaming. So the accuracy of tracking is not that good as that of iPi.

We plan to release head tracking by the end of September, then props tracking, fingers keyframing and multiple persons tracking by the end of 2012.

Wow! So any day now for head tracking? That's very exciting news!

It's also perfect timing for us--we've been busy working on the next Brudders short and we plan to shoot all new mocap for this film next week using iPi DMC 2.0.

Thanks for the info Pas!

As I have said, I love my (ours) IPI Studio. And as Greenlaw said "That's very exciting news! "
Thanks IPI

Great news. What about hand (Wrist) tracking? To be honest, this is much more important for us that finger keyframing. For a lot of motions like clapping, gesturing, fighting, etc, it now requires that we manually keyframe the wrists for both hands on almost every animation. From what I've seen the Microsoft SDK support this so I guess I'm not clear what the roadblock is on the iPi development side.

Thanks,
Mitch

Very curious to see what they came up with to solve these challenges.

I'm going into speculation mode: my guess is that the props tracking and wrist tracking methods will go 'hand in hand', so to speak, through another device like the PS Move or Wii controller. That's pure guessing of course--I really have no knowledge.

Hopefully, I won't have to buy more hardware but, whatever their system is, if it works I'll take it. Just have to wait and see. :)

I understand that you must keep up with what's going on in the market, but has anybody been able to convert facial animation data from Nuicapture to Motionbuilder, or any other software? What good is it to capture facial animation if you can't apply it to your own character?
