Hello.

I have a problem. I can't make 3 cameras at once work at maximum resolution 60 fps. I have a laptop with dual core processor (probably 2-3 years old), and 2 USB2 controllers along with total of 3 USB ports. I also have USB2 active hub. I have tried all possible combinations of pluging cameras (single camera into a single port, one camera in one port and two in other via the hub, all three in one hub), the result is that only 2 cameras are working, the third is around zero FPS. 40 fps works fine (again, in any combination of camera pluging). I'd like to know why 60fps won't work. Is this problem fix-able in my case, or probably my PC is not powerful enough to handle it?

P.S. I also close all the applications and remove unnesessary processes as far as possible to let my CPU "breathe easier".

It is possible that all of your USB ports are physically connected to the same USB controller, and another controller is used for some other purposes. In this case you will need external USB controller on ExpressCard if your laptop has this slot. If not, then you need to consider another computer for recording.
You can check whether all cameras are connected to a single controller using Devices By Connection view of Device Manager.

Does the failing camera always have the same cable? We had some weird problems (mainly randomly freezing camera) at first with one of the cameras, and it must have been the cable because the problems vanished when we got rid of that cable. Which was brand new, and an identical cable bought at the same time is still in use. The quality control nowadays...

We used a laptop (Intel i5, which is a quad-core) with up to four PS3 cameras @50FPS with a non-SSD hard drive. At least this laptop was quite useless with battery power in terms of overall performance. So make sure you have access to AC while recording.

This might be an unnecessary remainder, since Greenlaw has told this at least a thousand times here already: use active (with repeater) USB cables. We have one that is 12 m long and it works just fine.
