Hi Team iPi, This question was asked a while back when the XBox Kinect alternatives (Kinect for Windows and Xtion) first became available, but I was wondering what the current opinion was: Is there any benefit to using a mixed Kinect setup? The reason I ask is that we recently acquired a Kinect for Windows to take advantage of Near Mode for face capture experiments. For some time now we've been using two XBox Kinects with iPi DMC, and I was wondering if it makes sense to replace one of the XBox Kinects with the new Windows Kinect, so iPi DMC recording would be done using one XBox Kinect and one Windows Kinect. Or it only make sense to use Windows Kinect with another Windows Kinect? We're not planning to get a second Kinect unless we can expect a dramatic quality difference with using two Windows Kinects but we'd like to know what you guys think either way. BTW, we decided to get two PS Move Controllers and will be testing them with Recorder next week. We already had two Wii controllers so it will be interesting to compare the differences. Looking forward to the Studio update for these devices--let you know what we think about it when the time comes. :) G. |

Thanks for the prompt and helpful answers! We'll continue using the XBox Kinects for iPi DMC then. G. |
