Hi all,

I'm going to be shooting some characters who are sitting down on a sofa, and then being interviewed sat down for the remainder of the shot. Their arms and hands with be gesturing, but they remain seated.

I will be using a 90 degree 2x Kinects setup with Ipi 2 Standard.

I was wondering what prop/chair I should use when I shoot this? Should I use a stool (at sofa height) or can I use a white plinth, as I'm shooting in a white studio?

Secondly, presumably I have to start off shooting the actors doing a standing T-pose and carry on shooting them as they go and sit down....and so on and so forth.

Advice from artists who have done this would be greatly appreciated :)

Many thanks chaps!

Hi

You can use a regular chair, color does not matter as you will be using Kinects. To silmulate lower height of sofa, you may cut chair's legs (though it may be painful :), or just put some prop under actor's feet.
Not necessary to start with T-pose. The starting pose just needs to be simple enough to make easier manual adjustments of model's pose before clicking on the Refit pose button for the first time.
To be on a safe side, you still may ask actors to start with the T-pose. In case of any difficulties in starting the tracking process from a sitting position, you could fallback to starting from T-pose.

Thanks for your reply vmaslov. Your help is always appreciated. The prop under the feet is a great idea!

I'm basically after this kind of result (but with the actor kinda more slumped into a sofa): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0n_r9uB3uo&feature=related

I'll drop the author an email too, and check with them.

Thanks again!
