We won't know until it's released of course but my guess (and this is purely a guess,) is that as long as certain features are identifiable to the tracker (eyes, nose, mouth maybe?) it should work fine. It's also my understanding that the RGB tracking will be used to assist the current system (adding bank for example,) and not completely replacing it.
So in other words, Mocap Studio may still rely on using an identifiable, mostly beardless head shape for 3D tracking first and then use RGB tracking for further clues about orientation. If that's the case, a long thick beard that makes the chin and neck less distinct will likely cause problems for head tracking and a short neatly trimmed beard probably will not.
I'm totally speculating though. I have no actual knowledge of what they have in mind. :)
FWIW, I usually wear a short trimmed beard these days and the current iPi Mocap Studio has no problem with that.
