Hi there,

is it possible to pin or copy (position) from the IK-Foot?

No, pinning is not currently supported.
We may include this feature in later releses, though no definite plans on this yet.

Oh, please do! Pinning is one of the primary reasons I use Motion Builder for editing capture data from iPi Mocap Studio, but it would be so useful to do this directly in iPi Mocap Studio. I will look forward to using this feature someday. :)

This was brought up in another post but one good example I have is the Sister Mocap test I posted a few months ago. When 'Sister' leaps forward, you can see in the raw iPi Mocap Studio segment that the feet slip backwards several inches at the beginning of each jump--this is where I had to briefly pin and release the feet in Motion Builder before applying the motion to the character LightWave.

I'm certain that users who do not have access to Motion Builder would love to have this capability in iPi Mocap Studio. Even I would prefer to do this as part of the iPi tracking process myself.

Another vote for "please do this", foot skate is the main reason I end up doing other clean up. If I could just set a region where the feet were independently fixed and let the IK solver accomodate, that would be great.

Hi eyepies,

pinning works great but i have the next problem.
when i pinned my leg and i start to smooth my animation (jitter removal), all my keys are deleted or would not include in the calculation.

After smooth, my legs jumps away again.

Bug?

Because this is not indeed a pinning feature you want, but a tricky way to use UI to simulate pinning. As I said previously, there is no full-fledged pinning in the current version of Mocap Studio.

You can make pinning in animation software of your choice after exporting captured animation from iPi Mocap Studio.
iPi Mocap Studio is a mocap product, not an animation editor, so there are limited editing capabilities. Though we will probably extend them in future releases.

Even though I'm using Motion Builder, you can use almost any 3D programs to do this. djtaylor mentioned using Blender for pinning in another thread, which is a powerful opensource 3D program you can download for free.

That said, like djtaylor, I'd love to see more basic editing tools eventually added to iPi Mocap Studio. It doesn't need everything under the sun, but having pin/release and other override tools would be very useful, even if the intention is to bring the data into fully featured an animation program. Mocap Studio's recently added hand pose system is an excellent example of the type of editing tools they should pursue--yes, hand animations can be added using another program but it's really fantastic to see hand gestures already in place when you import the iPi data.

In the meantime, for the tools that are still 'missing', there are a few good and affordable alternative solutions already out there. (Blender, ikinema Webanimate, etc.)
