Here's something I've been wondering about regarding iPi Mocap Studio's head tracking: Is there any benefit to using both 'traditional' head tracking option and PS Move-based head tracking at the same time? Or is this not recommended?

Currently, I'm leaving the normal Head Tracking option disabled and using only the PS Move data for head motions, which looks pretty good. But I would like to know if normal head tracking adds neck motion that is probably lacking from PS Move only data. Or will the two types of motion data conflict with each other, or does that even matter? (i.e., does the tracked head motion data simply get overwritten by the PS Move data?)

Sorry, I haven't taken the time to examine this situation myself--we've run out of time for further R&D and we're too busy applying the new data in our film right now--but I was hoping somebody here (iPi Soft staff member or a user) already knows the answer.

Thanks in advance for any info.

G.

You can use only one type of tracking for head - either optical/depth, or with a motion controller. Applying motion controller data overwrites tracked data for the corresponding bone.

Thanks for the fast reply! :)

That's what I suspected--thanks for confirming this. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't losing a little 'extra' motion for the neck but since I'm not, I'll continue to leave Head Tracking disabled and rely solely on the PS Move data for the motion.
