So I'm working on a pet project, and am curious if any of you guys have run across anyone doing any sort of motion capture with puppets!?

The thought is.

To use iPi and capture a puppet and treat it like a human. ( two arms and two legs.. head.. etc ) Then I can capture the performance of the puppet.. and re-target it to a puppet character in post.

I am curious if you've seen anyone who's been doing anything like this!?

I mean, if the puppet had human-ish proportions, in theory the capture would just be straight forward...

Anyway.. any thoughts on it would be great!
thanks.

Here's something along the lines I'm looking to achieve.. only in CG.

iPi Mocap Studio uses human model for tracking, which should be accurately fit to an actor's proportions. Thus, you could only track puppets looking like real humans, not arbitrary having 2 legs and 2 arms.

Yeah, I assumed as much.

I am going to attempt to construct a 'muppet' with human-esc proportions, and see what the results are.
I'll post my findings here!

Thanks!
