Post subject:  kinect freezing computer

Hi, I was testing the iPi recorder with two kinects and the openni drivers with no problem, I was moving the Kinects around the room to find the right spot when sudnnely the dreaded usb disconnect sound popped up and it stopped recognizing the kinects.
I uninstalled all drivers and installed the SDK 1.8, it worked but now I have the "usb connector to which the kinect sensor is attached does not have sufficient bandwidth" message on one kinect or if I plug it to the "Eton USB 3.0" port it recognizes both fine but when I go to set up. it just freezes.
I just don't know what else to do, why can't I use the openni drivers anymore?.

Hi
Have you tried:
  • checking all possible combinations USB ports?
  • connecting Kinects without USB extension cables?
  • unplugging high-bandwidth USB devices like external HDDs, WiFi dongle etc?
  • updating drivers for Etron USB chipset? (look here for the download link)
It may be the case that Kinect has compatibility issues with Etron USB3 chipsets.
By "openni", did you mean PrimeSense drivers for Kinect which can me installed with iPi Recorder, or some other drivers?
What's your OS, by the way?

Hi, I'm using Windows 7, I think that was part of the problem, ultimately I uninstalled all the windows kinects SDK and drivers and re installed the prime sense drivers, now it's working again, it's weird because I had re installed the drivers as soon as I had the problem, so I'm kind of weary because I think it can happen again anytime.
Maybe it could have been multiple conflicting drivers.
Anyway, It´s solved momentarily, anyone has had this problem before?
