I tried this out with Kinect and I had problems with the skeleton. One leg would start twisting up the back and arms didn't always follow my arms from the ipi recording. Also, is there a way of importing my own character and adding the motion capture to it and then export it?

When using a single Kinect, many tracking errors are caused by self-occlusion. So the range of motions you can successfully capture with one Kinect is limited. Some of tracking errors can be easily cleaned up (see our wiki), others require more manual editing. If you wish, you can pass your video file to us, so we could give you more specific guidance.
You can import your character in a range of formats and retarget captured motion to it right in Mocap Studio. Use the "Export" tab for this.

Hi there thanks for the reply. I managed to improve my recordings. I found it was better to record at night in my home with 2 lights on and the curtains closed. Seems as if the light from the window was causing tracking problems. I may invest in a second Kinect. How would that work? would I just connect to another free usb port and set up would recognise them both? I have to say the smoothing and jitter reduction is brilliant.
Are there any video tutorials on ipisoft using 2 kinects?

Each Kinect requires separate USB 2.0 (or higher) controller (not just port).

Recording with 2 Kinects give MUCH better results and you can spin around :)

That's correct, if you're recording with Kinect in a room with windows, you need to be aware of IR interference from the sun. Our living room, where I do most of my iPi Mocap Studio recording, has 5 windows (a lot for such a small room,) so during the day I need to close all the blinds and put up a blanket over the window closest to my performance space. That works quite well for me when I have to shoot during the day but usually I just shoot during the evening and everything is fine with normal room lighting.

I recently purchased blackout material for another project from Joann Fabrics. This material blocks out light very effectively. I'm thinking of purchasing additional material to use as temporary curtains for the living room that I can quickly hang-up and take down as needed.
