I have 2 Kinect cameras, I hear that 3 Kinect cameras is supported now, is it worth to invest in a third camera? |

Introducing 3d Kinect improves the accuracy of tracking (mainly by reducing tracking errors), which is especially helpful in the case of 2 actors. The capture area is not increased. So, if you do or plan to capture 2 actors or are not satisfied with the number of errors you get while tracking your motions - then 3d Kinect may be a worthwhile option. Remember, you also need to have 3 USB controllers for this to work. However, for capturing 2 actors, 8 PS Eyes would be a better choice anyway. |

I went from using 2 kinects to 3 kinects and my captures are much better. The clean-up is much less. |

I'm running out of USB ports! Can anyone recommend a high-speed hub for my PC laptop? |

A hub probably won't help--all a hub does is split an existing controller's bandwidth, not increase it. You should look into adding an extra USB controller, if that's possible on your laptop. On my old laptop I did this via an Expresscard slot. Hope this helps. G. |

Thanks Greenlaw, I'll take a look at what you've suggested. |

My motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth X79.

From the board specs and this screenshot I suppose you have 2 Intel USB 2.0 controllers and 1 ASMedia USB 3.0 controller. |

Does it matters one is USB 3 and two are USB 2? I don't think the ports identify which ones are the enhanced ones, I seem to recall one has to connect the cameras to the enhanced (faster) USB ports right? How would I find out? |

"Enhanced" means USB 2.0 in this case. This was to differ from USB 1.0 and 1.1 in the old days. Mixing USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports for connecting Kinects is OK, as Kinect is USB 2.0 device and will work in backward compatibility mode on USB 3.0 controller. You should connect 2 of Kinects to USB 2.0 ports (black ones) and the last Kinect to USB 3.0 port (blue ones). If you already use our software with 2 Kinects, then you should know the working combination of USB 2.0 ports for connecting 2 Kinects :) |
