Post subject:  İpi Recorder Multiple Sensor Issue

Hi,
I 've recently started using Ipi Soft. I want to get record from Multiple cameras. However my laptop does not run all two sensors together because of usb 2.0 controller bandwith issue. My laptop has one usb controller. I will buy a new notebook.
On a notebook which has one usb 3.0 controller(I think most of the notebooks have single usb 3.0 host controller),I wonder if i plug all sensors to the ports which is connected to same controller will bandwith issue arises again or not. Is there anyone who runs multiple sensors on a single usb 3.0 controller?

Thanks

All currently supported depth sensors are USB 2.0 devices, and work with USB 3.0 controller in backward compatibility mode. Thus, the effective bandwidth is still limited to that of USB 2.0 controllers.
To be on the safe side, it's better to get a laptop which has both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. That guarantees the laptop has at least 2 independent USB controllers.

Just to add to what's already been said, while the Kinect is limited to USB 2.0 speeds, a USB 3.0 controller may help the Kinect and laptop to reach that limit more consistently. However, to answer your question, I think a single USB 3.0 port won't be sufficient to support two Kinect sensors--as vmaslov suggests, you'll need a laptop with at least two controllers, preferably USB 3.0--one for each sensor.

FYI, the leftover bandwidth on the USB 3.0 controller using a single Kinect is probably sufficient to also carry the data from a PS Move sensor. (It works that way here anyway, although I'm not using a laptop.)

Hope this helps.

G.

To diagnose the problem, it's better to have the full text of the error. Just Ctrl+V after the crash.
Have you tried all combinations of USB ports for connecting Kinects?
Do you have warning signs (yellow) alongside Kinect devices in Device Manager?
Do you have other drivers for Kinect installed besides MS Kinect SDK?
If you change video mode to "depth only", does this make a difference?
