Hi! we're a team consisting of three members with intentions to create some 3D animation short films and other projects.

We've got a studio of 7meters per 3,5meters (23 x 11,5 feet) and we're planning to buy 4 PSEye cameras for the moment and buy other 2 cameras in the future if it work well for us.

Question is... is it enough space to make it work? we plan to place one PSEye on each corner of the room.

When we buy the other two we plan to place them in the center of the top wall and in the center of the bottom wall but idk if it will work well...

regarding height of the cameras... we plan to put one of them in 2m height and the rest at 1.5 is that correct?

Last question... can we use a PS Move for calibration instead of a Mini Maglite?

Thank you all :D

Hi

Yes, this room should fit. With such configuration, the capture area will be around 3.5 x 2.5 m (an actor should be fully visible in all the cams, that is 2-2.5m minimum distance from them). The height are OK, you can also try 2.5m for the highest cam.

When adding 2 more cameras, placing at the short sides makes little sense, because the new cams won't add much new details - the position and direction are similar to other 2 cameras on the corresponding side. Instead, consider placing them at the ceiling close to the middle of long walls, looking at the center of the floor - maybe, that would work better.

Yes, PS Move can be used for calibration. Just keep it at a reasonable distance from the cameras - the calibration algorithm looks for a small light spot.

Thank you so much for the precise reply. I think you're right, placing the two extra cameras high at the sides makes much more sense, Our room is 2.4 meters high though... I hope it will make it.
