Hello it seems no one ask the questions . I've got 2 kinect v1 for my tracking stuff . (I usually use just one for basic stuff) & 2 when i got rotation thing to do. But What is better . Keeping my 2 kinect or buy 1 kinect v2 (i also record it with a notebook celeron N940 (win 8.1) then process on my main pc) so i can go in my garage to make the record (to have a larger space) . SO i'm wondering what is the best . Should i just keep on to 2 Kinect v1 ? Or upgrade to kinect v2 . I'm also a freerunner (parkour) so i want to do jump ,backflip , wallflip (running on to a wall) . And i see that kinect v2 has higher fps so to be able to record kinda like "fast-motion" Best regards ! |

Using 2 depth sensors is better than 1, whether it is Kinect 1 or Kinect 2, to avoid occlusions. Kinect 2 does NOT have greater rate, the same 30 fps. It has wider FOV and greater actual depth resolution. For capturing acrobatic motions I'd recommend to try with PS Eye cameras - they have 60 fps and provide larger capture area. And even 8 new cameras will cost less than a single Kinect 2. You might start with 4 for simplicity. |

THanks for the reply . Really 8 ps eye (i know they are kinda cheap) . ANd if i get like 4 ps eye (it will be better ) than my 2 kinnect . I also wanted to know if for (recording only) I can use my notebook (intel celeron n940 , 4 go win 8.1 ) i know i use it with kinect its okay for recording (i do render process on my i7 pc) |

In terms of performance I think there should be no problems. However, there may be problems with connecting all 4 cameras, depending on the notebook's USB ports configuration - 2 USB controllers are required for 4 cameras. If, for example, it has both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, then it's guaranteed to have 2 USB controllers available. USB hub(s) may be needed to extend the number of USB ports. Also, a distributed recording feature has been released recently. Thus, if you have performance or connection problems with a single notebook, but have another one by hand, you'll be able use 2 notebooks to record with the needed number of cameras. |
