Hi, guys What cpu do you recommend for recording the video with 6 ps eye cameras at resolution 640 * 480 at 60 fps. As I have known from ipi wiki, it recommends the use of quad core cpu with 2.0 ghz or above to do that job. However, it does't indicate what brand of the cpu should be used. So I wonder if it is safe to use the AMD FX-4300 quad-core cpu to record the video?Since it is much cheaper when compare with the Intel i5 quad-core cpu at this moment. And also some people have proven that Intel xeon E5430 can be used when record the video at 640 * 480@60 with 6 ps cameras. (See link below) http://forum.ipisoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6131&hilit=60+fps+6+camera To make sure the computing power of AMD FX-4300 and Intel E5430 are similar, I query another cpu performance Userbenchmark website listed below: http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Xeon-E5430-vs-AMD-FX-4300/m16038vs2879 In this moment, we assume there are three usb controllers, each of them is connected with two ps cameras only and no compatible issues occur. And there is a second storage drive with sequential write speed over 110 MByte/sec. If someone have used the AMD quad-core cpu to do the video record before, feel free to share the ideas. |

Hi We had never tested our software with AMD CPUs actually. However, given its specs it looks quite adequate for 6-8 cameras. Drive speed should be enough even for uncompressed stream from 6 cameras. Using compression saves you disk space (and lowers disk speed requirements), but adds more pressure on CPU. Experiment with different compression options to find out what your CPU can cope with. |
