I'm going to be getting a new iPhone soon to use as a hotspot for recording Kinect v2 cameras between two computers. It's easy to tell how much of my data plan will be used in a session if I decide to auto merge a distributed recording. What I don't know is how much memory from my data plan will be used during the recording. The copy/merge of videos can be worked around via thumb drives. A scene usually is about 300mb give or take for like 30-45 seconds. But, during recording, is there a way to know how much the hotspot is being taxed? I could blow through my monthly data service plan in a few short recordings and id like to know how much is being used during recording....of say 30sec - 1min of recording. A lot? Not too much?

Also, can you distribute record without wifi? That would solve all of my problems if that were possible via Ethernet

Hi

Distributed recording does not send any data to Internet or receive it from there. It's only local network transfer. So if you use a smartphone as Wi-Fi hotspot, none of your mobile Internet traffic is spent.

Sure, you can use cable (Ethernet) connection between PCs. This will provide you better speed for records transfer.
Also, another speed-up option is to transfer iPiVideo files via external drive and merge them later in iPi Recorder.
