Hello, do you mean is for Kinect 2 better, when captured person have a color marks on suit? Like left sleeve green and right sleev red, left leg yellow, right leg blue and yellow cap? Kinect 2 do sensor colors? |

Hi Currently, color data is not used for tracking with Kinects, it is recorded for reference only (and may be omitted). Anyway, human model in iPi Mocap Studio that is used for tracking from color data (of regular cameras), cannot be customized in a way that left/right sides have different colors. Different colors are allowed (and preferred) for torso, arms, legs, hands, head and shoes. But both arms should have the same color, as well as both legs, both hands and both shoes. |

In general, what worked well for me was a long-sleeved red or green shirt with a black T-shirt pulled over. This separates the arms from the torso and the black shirt minimizes shadows cast by the arms. The actual color for the arms doesn't matter...it just needs to contrast with the torso and background. Obviously, a black shirt is not idea if the background is also black...the keyword here is contrast. Dark blue jeans is fine. I think dark shoes is recommended but I've recorded with white socks so as not to scuff up our stage mat and it was fine. Clothing should be reasonably close fitting so the tracker can recognize the human figure. In brief, the tracker can't track what it can't see. Try to imagine how the scene looks to the software. When we switched to a multi-Kinect based system, I started wearing bulky shoes or boots. This seemed to help with feet tracking because the feet were getting slightly clipped by the ground plane after calibration. This is probably not relevant for PS Eye recording but if you have problems with the feet, it might be worth looking into. |
