I think I already know the question but I wanted to confirm this with the developers: When using multi-kinect recording and using the 'light' method for calibration (PS Move or Maglite 'candle',) is there any reason to include the depth data? In other words, can I optimize my fps by using only RGB recordings? I know for motion recording, the RGB channel is optional but I wasn't sure if the opposite was true for calibration recording when using the 'light' method. I'm going to test this myself in just a minute but just wanted to hear your opinion. Thanks. |

Oh, never mind--I see that there is no way to record RGB only footage with Kinect in Recorder. If possible, could this be added as a feature in a future edition? I'm trying to use a low end laptop for a third Kinect and it's just barely maintaining 30 fps. The laptop is actually working okay but if I could optimize the fps just a little bit more by dropping the depth channel for calibration, it would be ideal. Or is the depth channel is needed for floor detection? Just wondering. Thanks for any info! |

Hi, Dennis "Light" calibration method for Kinects uses both depth and color data. Depth used for the estimation of floor plane and marker position. |

Ah, okay thanks! I thought it might be something like that. So now my question is, could the list for changing modes (Depth only/Depth with color) be added to the Record Tab? What I wound up doing is I used Depth With Color for the calibration stage, and switched to Depth Only when recording motions. With the current UI, I need to go backward in the 'wizard' to change modes, but this invalidates my Background Evaluation so I have to re-do that for all three computers. And then, when I was ready to record motions, I had to repeat this for each computer. I was wondering if having the list accessible in the Record tab might avoid repeating the BG Evaluation step and help streamline the process. Thanks in advance for any info. |

The thing is not in adding/removing controls, but in decision in what situations the background should be reset. I think we'll consider not resetting the background when switching mode from depth+color to depth with the same resolution. |

Thanks. That would actually be very helpful. |
