Post subject:  Positional accuracy

Hi,

We wish to use iPi for recording whole body poses for psychological research. To be more specific a subject is going to adopt various poses and we need to measure the XYZ positions of all the points. Subjects will not be moving more than a step or two so the volume we need to cover is quite limited. We need an accuracy of around +/-1.5 cm in all 3 axes. Can iPi achieve this and what would be the optimal camera setup for doing this?

Thanks in advance,

James

Hello,
for the requirements described we can recommend the following:
1. Basic Edition license used with two Kinect v2 sensors setup: http://docs.ipisoft.com/User_Guide_for_Multiple_Depth_Sensors_Configuration
2. Biomech Add-on: http://ipisoft.com/store/ipi-biomech (used to get joints coordinates)
3. System accuracy depends on many factors. But specified accuracy (1.5 cm) looks feasible to our system. You can check publications that include comparison of iPi with other systems, listed at the bottom Biomech Add-on page linked above.
