I'm new to this stuff so apologies for asking possibly a stupid question. I am proposing to purchase 2 of: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Window ... _2b_a_p-20 And plug them into a Dell with NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050Ti with 4GB GDDR5 Graphics Memory http://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/des ... se-desktop I'd really appreciate someone signing off that this is a viable configuration for mocap with iPi. Hi Unfortunately, there is a limitation in MS Kinect SDK which allows to use only a single Kinect v2 camera per PC. So you'll need 2 computers and do a distributed recording with 2 Kinects. For recording with Kinect v2, the desktop you mention is more than adequate. You can use an inexpensive laptop (preferably with Intel Core series CPU) as a secondary PC for other Kinect. Do you plan to use this PC also for processing records in Mocap Studio? Although it is not so critical for depth cameras (depth videos are processed faster than color) I'd still recommend you to look on configurations with more decent GPUs. Event the next in line GTX 1060 is expected to provide about 50% more performance (and tracking speed) than GTX 1050 Ti. |

Hi, Thanks for your useful advice. We were planning to pass the data into BioMech and from there get data giving the 6df's of all limbs. BTW we are planning to analyze just one subject at a time while that person explores a range of poses. The goal of our research is to map out the range of joint angles, and the interactions between then, in human poses. We'd like to be able to measure joint angles with around a +/-2 degree accuracy. With this background information, do you think that a 2 Kinect V2 solution is optimal? We're quite open to going another route but would obviously like to determine the best method before investing time and money. Many thanks for your advice, James |

Hello, taking into account your tasks (that require only single person tracking) you can use Basic Edition + Biomech Add-on, and consider two hardware options: * 2 Kinect v2 setup (Kinect v2 has the best accuracy among affordable depth sensors) * 6 Sony PS3 Eye cameras With PS3 cameras you'll get better accuracy for feet and head. But it is more complicated in setup, requires more space, impose higher requirements for lighting and clothes.
