This is actually an old tip but it's worth repeating since iPi Recorder is a completely new program now. As described elsewhere in these forums, we have our main computer in a different room from where we do our mocap recording, which can make it awkward to accurately position the cameras/Kinects and inconvenient to operate iPi Recorder 2.0. To solve this problem, we installed the free Team Viewer 8 program on the main computer and a Tablet PC. Using this program, we can see and operate Recorder from the Tablet PC across the house in a different room, saving us time and a lot of walking back and forth. The Team Viewer software is reasonably responsive and does not appear to interfere with the capture performance of Recorder. G. |

That sounds like a really good idea Greenlaw, I've used Team Viewer before but have never been in a situation where the capture equipment is too far away from the shoot. I will keep this in mind though, great tip! |

One more useful tip: you can control recording using the PS Move or Wii Motion Plus device. To do this, hold down the 'Start' button on the PS Move controller or the 'A' button on the Wii Motion Plus controller until you feel a vibration--this is the signal that recording has begun. If you're capturing solo, this technique may prevent capturing unusable footage of you walking from the computer to the stage and getting into position. G. |
